Children in Africa, representing the communities served by Bridge Star Foundation's programs
OUR PROGRAMS

Four focus areas, one goal: a brighter future for every child.

Education is our starting point, but a child's future depends on more than a classroom. Our programs follow sponsored children from enrolment through to the workplace and community leadership.

PROGRAM 01

Scholarships & Education Support

Our founding program, and still the heart of everything we do.

We provide full or partial sponsorship covering school fees, uniforms, textbooks, exam registration and, where needed, transport — for children in primary and secondary school who would otherwise be forced to drop out. Sponsorship is renewed each term based on continued need and satisfactory school attendance, and our field officers check in with schools directly.

  • Termly school fee payments made directly to partner schools
  • Uniforms, shoes and basic learning materials provided at the start of each year
  • Exam registration fees covered for national exam candidates
  • Termly progress monitoring through school visits and report cards

PROGRAM 02

Skills Development & Career Guidance

Preparing older students for life after graduation.

For students in upper secondary school and recent graduates, we run vocational training partnerships, digital literacy classes and career mentorship sessions. The goal is simple: by the time a sponsored student finishes school, they should have a realistic, practical plan for what comes next — whether that's further study, an apprenticeship, or employment.

  • Partnerships with local technical and vocational training institutions
  • Basic computer and digital literacy training
  • One-on-one career guidance and mentorship sessions
  • Support with college and scholarship applications for top performers

PROGRAM 03

Youth Empowerment & Leadership

Building confidence, not just qualifications.

Through school-based leadership clubs, peer mentoring circles and life-skills workshops, we help sponsored students develop the confidence and character to lead — in their classrooms, their homes and eventually their communities. Older sponsored students are encouraged to mentor newer ones, creating a cycle of support that outlasts any single sponsorship.

  • Termly leadership and life-skills workshops in partner schools
  • Peer mentorship pairing senior students with newly registered children
  • Annual youth leadership camp bringing students together across counties
  • Guidance on health, wellbeing and decision-making for teenagers

PROGRAM 04

Community Development

A child cannot learn on an empty stomach or an unstable home.

We work with parents, guardians, chiefs and local health workers on the conditions that surround a child's education: nutrition support, referrals to health and social services, and basic household stability programs. This is often where our registration visits begin — understanding the whole family situation before enrolling a child in sponsorship.

  • Household needs assessments during registration visits
  • Referrals to local health, nutrition and social protection services
  • Support for guardians of orphaned and vulnerable children
  • Collaboration with chiefs and community health volunteers

Who We Support

Sponsorship eligibility

We prioritize children who are out of school or at serious risk of dropping out due to financial hardship. Every case is verified in person before a child is enrolled.

Orphaned & vulnerable children

Children who have lost one or both parents, or who live with elderly or ill guardians unable to meet school costs.

Children from extreme financial hardship

Households where school fees, uniforms or exam costs are consistently out of reach, verified through a home visit.

Children with disabilities

Children who face additional barriers to enrolment and need extra support to stay in mainstream or specialized schooling.

Children already out of school

Children who have dropped out due to hardship but wish to return, given the right support to re-enrol and catch up.
